Crane Fitter job in Rodgau – building cranes where others just watch
You've trained in a trade – mechanic, metalworker, steel fabricator or something comparable – and want to get out of the hall and into real projects? Then join Omega Mounting as a crane fitter. We install crane runways, suspension, gantry and bridge cranes in industrial halls throughout the Rhine-Main region and beyond.
Never built cranes before? No problem. You start as second man on the vehicle and learn the trade with us – from colleagues who've been doing it for years.
Your tasks as a Crane Fitter at Omega Mounting
- Installing crane runways, suspension, gantry and bridge cranes
- Replacing and modernising existing crane systems during ongoing operation
- Installing conductor rails and getting the system ready for connection
- Aligning, measuring and bolting support structures
- Working from the aerial work platform, moving material with the forklift
- Dismantling old systems – cleanly and without damage to the building
- Supporting the test run and preparing acceptance by the expert
- You're right in the middle of it: small team, clear instructions, a visible result at the end of the day.

- Crane experience is welcome but not a requirement: you start as second man and learn with us

- You get operator licences for aerial work platform, forklift and crane from us; since 2026 we train in-house and run the examinations ourselves
- Category B driving licence
- Willingness to stay away from home during the week
- Technical understanding, reliability and eagerness to learn
What we offer you

Frequently asked questions about the Crane Fitter job
Do I need to have installed cranes before?
No. You start as second man on the vehicle and learn the crane trade with us – step by step, on real systems. What you should bring is a trade qualification, technical understanding and the willingness to learn the ropes. We teach you the rest.
Do I need a crane licence or operator authorisation?
Not from the start. Aerial work platforms, forklifts and cranes are part of everyday work – you get the authorisations from us. Since 2026 we train operators in-house and run their examinations. On top of that, our clients regularly train us on their systems.
How much will I be travelling?
The honest answer: expect four nights away per week and be glad when it's less. There are weeks when you sleep at home once or twice, and weeks that run entirely close to home. Work is Monday to Friday – at the weekend you're at home.
Where do I stay on assignments?
On short assignments in a good mid-range hotel including breakfast – that's standard with us, not the exception. If a site runs for months, we look for living accommodation nearby, often shared with other trades.
What about working at height?
Crane runways sit high up – you should have a head for heights. We organise the G41 occupational health check, provide fall protection and personal protective equipment, and brief you before every job. Safety isn't a form for us – it's the condition for everyone getting home safe in the evening.
