Internship in industrial assembly – from age 18

Want to know how industrial assembly really works – not from a textbook, but on site? With us you ride out with the team, pitch in and see how a plant is built, moved or brought back to life.

Important first: you must be at least 18 years old. Most of our sites – data centres, the airport, industrial plants with access control – simply won't let you in before that. That's not a formality on our part; it's our clients' rule.

Frequently asked questions about the internship

From what age can I do an internship at Omega Mounting?

With us from age 18 – we don't offer school internships for under-18s. The reason: otherwise you can't get onto our sites. Data centres, the airport and many industrial plants require adults for access – on top of that come the restrictions of the German youth employment protection act for hazardous work, heights and machinery. An internship where you'd only be allowed to stay in the workshop would deprive you of the essentials. So: from 18.

What kinds of internship are possible?

Compulsory internships during studies, compulsory school internships – for example from the Fachoberschule – and voluntary internships for orientation. In all cases you need to be at least 18 when the internship starts.

Do I need prior knowledge?

No. Technical interest and the willingness to work along are enough. Colleagues on site and in the workshop show you everything else.

How long does the internship last and is it paid?

We agree both with you personally – depending on what your university or school requires and how much time you have. Just get in touch.

Can I do an apprenticeship after the internship?

We don't offer a classic three-and-a-half-year apprenticeship ourselves. But as a team we're constantly training – internally with our own courses, externally with what the market offers, and through our clients' training. Especially on data centre sites you get access to specialist topics you won't find elsewhere.

And if you want a proper apprenticeship: we've been working in the Rhine-Main region for over ten years and know who's looking for apprentices right now. Several of our interns have found an apprenticeship at a partner company through us – a few of them now work with us again, this time as skilled workers. One who started with us as an intern on site is now a qualified electrical worker.

What should I bring?

Sturdy shoes and clothes that can get dirty. You get workwear, protective equipment and tools from us.
